Heidi Klum is Goddess Kali

Heidi Klum is offensive

Why? Because people are assholes. Regarding the kick-ass Goddess Kali costume Heidi Klum wore for Halloween, Indo-American "statesman" Rajan Zed said in a statement yesterday:

"Goddess Kali is highly revered in Hinduism and she is meant to be worshiped in temples and not to be used in clubs for publicity stunts or thrown around loosely for dramatic effects. Hindus welcome Hollywood and other entertainment industries to immerse themselves in Hinduism, but they should take it seriously and respectfully, and not just use the religion for decoration or to advance their selfish agenda. Casual flirting sometimes results in pillaging serious spiritual doctrines and revered symbols and hurting the devotees."

Zed is not alone in his outrage -- various other Hindu leaders, including Jawahar L. Khurana of the Hindu Alliance of India, and Bhavna Shinde of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, have also criticized Klum for posing as Goddess Kali on Halloween, calling it "denigrating." (Source)

Look, we should let her slide on this one. Even though Heidi's at that age where supermodels hit the wall, she needs to stay relevant and edgy. And what's the best way to increase your Google hits without hitting the party scene minus panties? That's right, take a shot at one of the religions that won't chop your head off for offending them. Heidi, dressing up as the Smurf God of Yanky Cranky is disrespectful and you should know better.

This was a halloween costume for God's Sake! I went to a party where a guy dressed as the Pope was doing shots from and Ice Luge, and speaking as a Catholic, I wasn't offended. Nor was I offended by the two pregnant nun costumes. Seriously, learn to laugh at yourself and your culture, or you're going to be pissed off all of the time!

i'm hindu and i wasn't offended by the costume, i thought it was kinda cool, however, i am offended by the cranky pants line! i joke.

"the Smurf God of Yanky Cranky"

I actually pulled something laughing at that.

I love people who get offended at Halloween costumes.

Youve got to be kidding me! People who find any type of Halloween costume offensive just needs to move out of the country, that or die in a fire. Its ridiculous.

Oh, and I was Jesus for Halloween, a friend of mine was a Priest and another friend was the virgin Mary.

Someone make a statement about that being offensive.

We were all drinking and getting on the stripper pole too.

Its Halloween for christs sakes. Makes me angry people would even act like that.

the statesmen got angry at someone for having a selfish agenda, really bud, you want to open that door. and if all those Hindu leaders really did get offended by it, than they are very good pratictioners of their faith.
