Kate Winslet and her husband, Academy Award-winning director Sam Mendes (American Beauty), are splitting up. I guess that's what happens when your wife catches you wearing her lingerie . . . I made that up. From People:

"Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year," their lawyers say in a statement. "The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children."　

Winslet, 34, and Mendes, 44, were married in 2003. They have a son, Joe, 6. Winslet also has a daughter, Mia, 9, from her first marriage to Jim Threapleton.

Wait a minute, what's with all the mutual break-ups today (see Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jamie Kennedy earlier)? I mean, let's call a spade a spade here. Kate dumped his ass. I don't even know why she was with this dude in the first place. That's not the face of someone you take to the Vanity Fair Oscars Party. That's the face of someone you tell your kids not to take candy from.
