Mike Tyson at Heathrow Airport in London (11/3)
Mike Tyson was arrested at LAX airport last night after punching a paparazzo that got too close to him and his 10-month-old daughter. Tyson was booked on misdemeanor battery charges and released on his own recognizance. The paparazzo was also charged with misdemeanor battery. From TMZ:
We're told Tyson was at a ticket counter at the United Airlines terminal when the incident occurred. The photographer got punched in the face, hit the ground, got up and began walking, leaving a trail of blood. An LAPD spokesperson said the photographer suffered a minor laceration to the forehead.OK that last sentence is just cool. I've always wanted my fists to be classified as a deadly weapon, but the only thing I've been able to kill with them is the occasional hippy. And that almost doesn't even count because I more "pushed them into the path of a moving bus" than "unleashed my fists of fury upon their weak vegan bodies." Well except that one guy in Fresno last year. In my defense, if he didn't want to be pummeled to death, he shouldn't have been a god damn hippy. "As a matter of fact, I can't spare a quarter . . . but I can spare MY FIST AGAINST YOUR UNEMPLOYED JAW!" Good times.
Someone at the scene tells TMZ ... the photographer got very close to Tyson before the boxer struck him. Our source says there's blood on the ground and Mike was taken away in a squad car. We're told an ambulance was dispatched at 4:39 PM to LAX and the paparazzo was transported to a local hospital.
Cops say Tyson and the photographer performed citizen's arrests on each other -- both are expected to be booked for misdemeanor battery. Cops also said witnesses backed both stories ... so that could get interesting.
If Tyson is prosecuted, given that he's a former boxing champ, the charge could end up being assault with a deadly weapon.
