George Lucas and Carrie Fisher on the set of Star Wars in 1977
Carrie Fisher admitted today that she used to party on the set of The Empire Strikes Back in 1979, and I don't mean with balloon animals, cake and ice cream, and a dunk tank. From Breitbart:
"We did cocaine on the set of 'Empire', in the ice planet," Fisher told Australian newswire AAP, referring to the setting of the second film in the original "Star Wars" trilogy. "I didn't even like coke that much, it was just a case of getting on whatever train I needed to take to get high."Wait, are we supposed to be surprised by this revelation? You've seen some of the characters George Lucas wrote into Empire, right? A guy who still wears capes (Darth Vader), a talking robot (C-3PO), a bigfoot-looking dude who has his pilot's license (Chewbacca), and . . . I don't even know (Yoda) -- I doubt Carrie was the only one getting high out of their mind on the set of that film.
"The Blues Brothers" co-star John Belushi warned her that she had a problem prior to his own death from a drug overdose in 1982, and Fisher said she ultimately came to realise how dangerous her habits were.
"Slowly I realised I was doing a bit more drugs than other people and losing my choice in the matter," she said. "If I'd been addicted to booze I'd be dead now, because you just go out and get it."
