You can't take Black History Month and put it as American History Month. It's not just about what happened in America, it's about what happened in England, Scotland, Spain, Africa, the Carribean Islands, and South America. No one is forcing any other "race" to celebrate. If it bothers you, ignore it. Whites have plenty of avenues through which they can celebrate their history...movies, television, academia. As for the crime stats, blacks obviously aren't committing more total crimes, but they are committing crimes at a greater rate than any other race. If Blacks make up 12% of the US population, then theoretically they would only be committing 12% of any given crime. However, if you look at the stats you'll see they commit 20-40% of most crimes. Also, black on white crime is FAR higher than white on black crime. Everyone knows a black man in a white neighborhood is much safer than a white man in a black neighborhood.

I really think everyone needs to take into account the fact that indivuallity doesnt mean anything to anyone who has commented thus far. Sayin "black people" or "white people" is ignorant, and in 2007 equality isnt happening and it never will without indiviuality. We are one group as a country, not thousands by race.
