Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes will no longer be holding hands

Wow, I picked a really bad time to be on a flight all day and miss all the breaking news. Like that little thing about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes divorcing after five years of marriage. And Katie wanting sole custody of their daughter. TMZ says Scientology is to blame for the split, and Tom was blindsided by the news:

Katie Holmes filed for divorce primarily over Tom Cruise's fierce ties to Scientology, fearing that Tom would drag Suri deep into the church ... sources connected with the couple tell TMZ.

Our sources say ... Katie has never been fully committed to Scientology, even though she has had ties with the church.  We're told the couple had been arguing over Suri -- that she's now of the age where Scientology becomes a significant part of her life. Sources familiar with the split tell us Katie is filing for sole legal custody -- as we first reported -- specifically because she does not want Tom to control decisions relating to religion.

Obviously this is pretty surprising news. Sure everyone joked around about Tom and Katie, but by all accounts, they were the perfect couple, destined for a lifetime of joy and happiness together. Much like the relationship between my girlfriend and me. And there is only one way she would dump me out of the blue, and it has nothing to do with religion: She would have to walk in on me plowing another dude in the ass. No holds barred, sweaty, raw anal sex. Religion? Please. It would have been more believable if Katie said she wanted a divorce because Tom always leaves the toilet seat up.
