Daryl Hannah was arrested in front of the White House today during a protest against a planned oil pipeline from Canada to the U.S. Gulf Coast. From USA Today:

The sit-in on Tuesday involved dozens protesting the Keystone XL pipeline. It would go through Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas to refineries in Houston and Port Arthur, Texas.

Before she was arrested, Hannah told The Associated Press the protesters want to be free from dependence on fossil fuels. The group is calling for clean energy investments instead. Hannah says they hope President Barack Obama will not bow to oil lobbyists.

Incidentally, there's no word on what happened to Daryl's horse after she was arrested . . . because she rode a horse to this protest about an oil pipeline, right? Oh, that's right, she didn't. She flew in on a jet from her home in Colorado. Because that's how you travel from one place to another in the year 2011. You use gas. Which doesn't miraculously appear when you snap your fingers. It goes through pipelines. Daryl, anytime you want to join the rest of us back in the real world, just let me know.
