That recording of Britney Spears that surfaced a few weeks ago in which she claimed she was being abused may not be the only fake recording out there. Take it away Chicago Sun Times:

In the wake of evidence that someone faked an audio tape alleging an ugly altercation between Britney Spears and her boyfriend, top L.A. agent Jason Trawick, there’s buzz that this kind of thing may be widespread.

Various Hollywood sources report similar tapes have been circulated to gossip websites and national celebrity gossip publications — claiming to reveal angry moments in the lives of stars like Longoria, Jessica Simpson and a couple of the Kardashian sisters.

“I think people will pretty quickly discover these new tapes are just as phony as the Spears tape,” a veteran Hollywood private eye told me Thursday. “Unfortunately, with the technology now available, it’s becoming harder and harder to prove these recordings aren’t the real thing. … My advice to anyone considering buying one of these tapes? Make damn sure they’re not fake before you pay for them,” added the source.

Creating counterfeit audio tapes to embarrass someone and then trying to sell those tapes to news outlets sounds like a pretty low class way to make money. Frankly, as someone that's in the well-respected and highly regarded industry of celebrity gossip blogging, I would never lower myself to that level. I'll just stick to more high brow endeavors -- like comparing Paris Hilton's vagina to the old abandoned well at my dad's house in the mountains. And with that, I must bid you good day Sir!
