Landlord sues Mischa Barton for $21,000

Mischa Barton is really getting screwed. She rented an apartment in New York last September for $7,000. Turns out that wasn't just a one time payment -- her landlord wants it every month! What a jerk! From the Huffington Post:
Mischa Barton's landlord says the actress is refusing to pay rent on her $7,000-a-month apartment in New York City.

Landlord M.R.A. Realties Inc. says in a lawsuit that Barton rebuffed efforts to collect the last three months' worth of rent on her flat in the trendy Tribeca neighborhood. Barton's representatives had no immediate response. The landlord wants Barton to pay the rent and legal fees.

The 23-year-old Barton also lives in Los Angeles. The lawsuit filed Thursday says her one-year lease on the Manhattan apartment began in September.
It sounds like life may soon be imitating art for Mischa. This week she played a hooker on Law & Order: SVU and next week she may be giving BJs for rent money. Now, I'm not sure how much money a broke Hollywood starlet with zero future employment opportunities would charge for such services . . . but I hear Lindsay is now accepting food stamps.

What has she done? WHAT has she DONE?!? You might remember her from such self-help videos as "Smoke Yourself Thin" and "Pay My Rent, Daddy!"

  • Terry1955

    She's an actress?

    What has she done?

7000 can barely get you a 2 bedroom in new york. you pay 3000 for a one bedroom in a chinese building. What kind of poor folk read this site? LOL peasants

How much you want to bet mb still lives at home?

Just one example of why anyone that chooses to live in NYC of their own free will is crazy, or has no taste for the finer things in life. NYC is the pits, it is a dirty, insanely expensive, overtaxed, crowded, high crime rate, over-regulated polluted hellhole.

  • Johnny Eumarr

I suggest an insanity defense: the landlord must have been crazy to rent to Mischa Barton.

  • Acemeister

    Gremlin!

  • Nameless

$7K a month is freakin' crazy rent...especially when you are a rarely employed coked out, alcoholic, psycho chick.

She better call Lindsey's agent (cough* pimp*cough) and line up some acting (cough*escort*cough) gigs.

  • Spooge

Who the hell would waste $7000 a month on an apartment?

Buy a damned house and after a few years ya don't owe anything.

  • Pft

Her family has money so she'll never have to become one of the "common people". She's just an entitled rich kid who doesn't think that rules apply to her.

Nice work, if you can get it.

  • The Oracle

No apartment is worth 7 K a month, especially in a dirty smelly city. She needs to tell the landlord to F off, or get real. For that kind of rent money she can rent a mansion in most places.

23????? Doesnt look a day over 33. Clean living folks.

  • Tristan Unsworth

I thought she'd have $50-$100 grand in the bank saved up. If she can't afford $7000/month rent, it may be time to give up acting and become... *gasp* a common person. I hear Montana is beautiful this time of year. Get a job in a diner.

    AND STOP SMOKING!!!!

We don't want her in Montana
