Those tax problems I wrote about a few months ago are catching up with Nicolas Cage. He had to sell his English castle. Bummer. From the Daily Mail:
He reportedly paid £5 million for the pile, which is built in the shape of the ace of clubs, two years ago. A potential buyer is understood to have offered a figure close to the guide price of £3.5 million. You know what, I'm OK living in a world where Nic Cage doesn't own a castle. We're talking about the same guy that starred in such craptastic films as Ghost Rider and The Wicker Man. He shouldn't be living in anything larger than a studio apartment in Van Nuys.
"The castle has just come on the market - they have stopped all work on it and instead want to sell as soon as possible," reveals a source close to the sale of the Grade I-listed property, which sits in 35 acres of parkland and 12 acres of woodland. "They have already accepted an offer, even though it is below the guide price. Both buyer and seller want to push things through as quickly as possible."

What a weird design for a castle but Nic is going to regret having to sell it. Seriously, how many people can claim actually owning a castle and a price less than many mansions in L.A.
He should have invested in a better CPA to deal with his income, investments and taxes.
I am not suprised he owned such a cool place, he is cool. I can just picture him sitting there reading some classic book. It is a shame though. It is scary having anyone deal with money for someone. Even if you know the person for years, you just never know. CPA's, Banks, managers & lawyers can be shady & sneaky. Anyway, it would be fun to venture through the castle & look around....so amazing!! I read the upkeep on one of those can be pretty expensive & will usually need to be renovated. Still, I bet the tax & all is less than the overpriced L.A. I agree with 2:04
dude cant be that broke..he has been in sooo many movies.
when is it enough
wow its sad so few have so much, how bored we must be to buy all that stuff,he cant take it with him,I dont believe the problem is his accountant , its better to blame someone else, doesnt he know how to balance his check book.dont feel sorry for him at all. nic I like your movies but on a personal note and with all the money u made u need to live within your means.next time your out driving one of your expensive cars look at the churches and see the poor sleeping in front of then ,they dont feel sorry u lost your castle.
