DJ AM committed suicide

Turns out that 8 OxyContins in your stomach at once is really really bad for you. From People:

Authorities investigating the death of DJ AM have found that he had eight undigested OxyContin pills in his stomach and a ninth in his mouth, a law enforcement source tells PEOPLE.

The finding suggests that DJ AM - real name Adam Goldstein - swallowed the powerful painkillers quickly. "He wanted to die," says the source, who says the suicide theory is supported by the pills and other evidence. "He was going unconscious when he took the last one. He didn't even swallow it."

In addition to the OxyContin, the source says, authorities who entered Goldstein's New York apartment Aug. 28 found a Valentine's Day card in the next room from Haley Wood. The pair had recently split. Dated Feb. 14, 2009, the card read, "Thank God you're in my life. I love you." Next to the card were six or seven photos of Wood and Goldstein.

He killed himself over a woman? How cliched. If you're gonna kill yourself over a woman, at least make it look cool so everyone's lasting memory of you isn't that you're a total pussy. "Dude, did you hear what happened to DJ AM? He was killed on a safari in Africa yesterday. He actually got out of the guide's SUV and rode one of the male lions for a good fifteen seconds before it mauled him to death . . . Now that I think about it, he was a pretty cool dude."

I guess my point was, if he had stayed away from the crack, and stayed away from mixing benzos, etc with the pain meds, and took the right amount of oxy, he would have been ok if he handled his depression and went to therapy.

Pain meds do help with mental illness (PTSD too, helps anxiety which is a lot of what PTSD is). I guess I can say I'm bipolar since this is anonymous, and i'm way way calmer since I am on pain meds for my illness. The dr told me it would help my bipolar before he gave them to me, which was odd but so true. One time I ran out though, that is a big mistake and that is when anxiety is worse than before, but that's only happened once for a couple of days. But most meds are physically addictive no matter what they say because I have been on a lot of anti ds due to bipolar and they tell you they are not physically addictive and trust me, i've had withdrawls, also they tell you to taper off, which doesn't make sense if they aren't addictive. Anyway..

He knew how many pain pills he took. I know it makes others feel better to think it wasn't suicide, but really, I'd rather think it was in a way. It's worse to me to think he killed himself by mistake. It would be more of a shame. If the pills were not even digested and one was not even swallowed while he was going unconscious, believe me he wasn't taking them for pain. It says they were taken really fast. No one takes 9 oxycontins (which is time released oxycodones, which means they are 12-24 hour dose pills each, which means if he had like an 80 mg oxy, you have to take 3 30 oxycodone which is 90 mgs, almost the same and is some people's whole days worth, and my 12 hour dose), no one thinks they have that much pain. No one would be that immune to them in a year, the crash happened a year ago. Not only that but cocaine if you look it up, also helps with pain and taking that too (crack) would make him need even less, at least need closer to his reg dose. Trust me, it was suicide. It's also no coincidence his gf dumped him like a few days before.

On the surface it looks like suicide but just a year ago he survived a 'plane crash in which he was seriously burned and given painkillers. I think burns are the worst and he needed the painkillers and was, reportedly, suffering from PTSD.

I SUSPECT the painkillers he was given along with the PTSD sent him over the edge and he smoked some crack and then didn't even realize how many pills he'd taken.

MAYBE.

He survived gastric bypass and plastic surgery and drug addiction and a deadly 'plane crash and the burns/pain/stress afterward at what...age 36??

That's a lot to deal with in a short period of time. RIP.
