Katherine Heigl on the Late Show with David Letterman (7/20)
Last week on Letterman, Katherine Heigl hopped aboard the ol' wambulance and revealed that Grey's Anatomy producers *forced* her to work 17 hours during the cast's first day back on set ("Our first day back was Wednesday and it was -- I'm going to keep saying this because I hope it embarrasses them -- a 17-hour day which I think is cruel and mean."). Since her job consists of reading lines off a sheet of paper for millions of dollars a year and not sewing tiny buttons onto shirts for 11 cents an hour, no one gave a fuck about her whining. Poor Katherine Heigl. What she neglected to add was this: This “cruel” shooting schedule was only to accommodate HER and her needs. The producers graciously shuffled things around so she could go off and do promotion for her new film. Also, with union rules, the producers had to pay a ton of overtime and penalties to make this happen. The thanks they get is Katherine Heigl going on national television hoping to embarrass them.I'm sorry but I am firmly on Katherine's side on this one. A 17-hour workday leaves her only 7 hours to steal candy from little children. How is she supposed to eat?
This dumb bimbo just cannot open her mouth without putting her foot into it. Doesn't she know she can replaced with any of 10,000 aspiring young actresses that arrive in LA every year?

I used to watch that show a LONG time ago... I thought her best roll was when that guy died and she just layed on the floor not saying a thing for 3-4 shows. Best work out of her EVER!

Katherine must give the best oral in Hollywood AND be willing to do ANYTHING and everyone. There is no other reason that she is still employed. I can’t believe how much of a prima donna she has become with nothing special other than the above to back it up. If she hasn’t saved her money then her future is to become a pro.

If she was really a prima donna like David Cruso is she would have left the show a long time ago to do movies.She's done well in movies,he never did.I hate the fact that if a women is strong and outspoken she is a bitch but if a guy does it.Know one says a word.

I personally think you's are all hipacrit's, she is an actress blowing off some steam. Dont sit there and tell me you's don't come home after a long day at work and complain to your wife, husband etc about how bad your day was! I sure know i do. That is all she is doing, fair enough she is getting millions of dollars doing what she does but that doesnt mean she cant compain like everyone else, it's an everday necessity.

I saw the Letterman interview and I don't agree that she was "clearly joking." She MAY have been joking, but with her previous track record with the people at her TV show, I highly doubt it. She's pissed that her little friend is off the show. She doesn't think the writers are treating her character correctly. And now, she thinks she's a big enough star that she can work when she wants.
I read Ken Levine's blog. He's an actor's best friend...He's worked on Cheers, Fraiser, MASH, etc.....he's been around big stars who appreciate the work the writers and producers do for them. Katherine is NOT one of them.
And....by the way. I work 10-12 hour days often and come home and complain to my wife often. But I don't complain on national television about my multi-million dollar job where everybody is bending over backwards to make me famous. "Blowing off steam?" Wonder why 99% of the other actors and actresses don't do the same thing? Because they are professional about it.

It is hard for people to have sympathy with her. Working 17 hours straight is harsh, but how often does she actually do it?
Real residents at real hospitals often work 24 hour shifts with no sleep every four days or so. She should consider working long hours "method acting".
