So what caused the heart attack that killed Michael Jackson yesterday? No one really knows yet. An autopsy is being performed today and we should know the results within a week. According to Life & Style, Jackson was taking a combination of seven prescription drugs in the months before his death:

The star had been taking prescription painkillers including anti-anxiety drugs Xanax, Zoloft and painkiller Demerol in recent months, sources close to Jackson say. The insider close to the star said he took a suspected overdose of drugs on Thursday morning, which caused respiratory and cardiac arrest.

According to The Sun, a Demerol overdose did him in:

An Emergency Room source at UCLA hospital said Jackson aides told medics he had collapsed after an injection of potent Demerol — similar to morphine.

A Jacko source said: "Shortly after taking the Demerol he started to experience slow shallow breathing. His breathing gradually got slower and slower until it stopped.

"His staff started mouth-to-mouth and an ambulance was called which got there in eight minutes “But found he was in full respiratory arrest, no breathing and no pulse. They started full CPR and rushed him to hospital.

"When he arrived they started resuscitation, giving him heart shocks and inserted a breathing tube and other supportive measures to try and save his life. He never regained consciousness.The family was told that he had passed."

TMZ claims it was morphine:

Members of Michael Jackson's family told us the singer was given a "heavy dose of morphine" prior to his death, and family members were alarmed. We're told Joe Jackson recently wanted to put Michael in a rehab facility in Palmdale, California for what he considered an "addiction" to morphine and prescription drugs. Family members say they felt he was unable to perform for his upcoming concerts because of his drug use.

So until the autopsy results are released, we just don't know. It could literally be anything. I might as well add to the circus and throw something out there: jai alai. Michael died from injuries suffered in a jai alai match. Don't rule it out. Those balls come at you really, really fast.
