God doesn't exist, but because most people believe that churches are holy places, it is still expected by society (mostly the society of people who are under the false impression that god does exist) that when you go to church you wear nice clothing.

Because the Christian "God" and religion in general has been plagiarized from a large number of religions, mainly ancient Egyptian beliefs. Jesus is essentially the sun, Mary is the Northern star and the bible is a made up story based on astrological figures/constellations and such. There are too many references to astrology in the Christian religion to count; it's dumbfounding. If you compare all religions who worship a single god, you'll see that they are almost completely the same, except for simple moral values that have nothing to do with what their god tells them, etc.

i've looked at a lot of major religions, and christianity is the ONLY religion that has a)resurrection, and b) a way to get to paradise/heaven/whatever you want to call it without having to do anything. every other religion (if you can call them that) is focused on works. so there.

there's no way to really know, untill your dead, but, taht doesn't really count... All one can really do is pick what makes sense to them and hope they're right. to some people, atheism(i think i butchered that spelling) makes sense, to some people Christianity makes sense, others might find Wicca or Buddhism or something like that. I just don't care... I'm agnostic.
