Jett Travolta dies
John Travolta and his son Jett in Ireland in 2004

TMZ is reporting that John Travolta's son Jett died today at a hospital in the Bahamas. He was just 16. The circumstances of his death aren't currently known but it's been reported for some time that Jett had autism but the Travolta family refused to acknowledge or treat it. In Scientology circles, those with autism are known as "degraded beings" that brought the affliction on themselves. I guess the Scientologists that believe in Xenu -- the alien that stacked billions of humans around volcanoes 75 million years ago and then blew them up with hydrogen bombs scattering their souls across the sky which he then collected with a vacuum cleaner and assembled in a movie theater where they were forced to watch a 3D movie for 36 days to implant them with misleading data so that when they attached themselves to human beings they would cause pain -- are considered the "normal" ones. Holy shit I hate these people.

NOTE: No, I didn't make any of that up

I agree with you to an extent Bull, because I dislike organised religion and this idea of "do as you are told, or you will burn in hell and not be accepted into heaven" nonsense.

If your a good person, and you dont try to hurt anyone in life, that should be enough for God to love you and to enter heaven and all thats Jazz.

You shouldnt have to follow sex after marriage or only date someone of the same religion to attain that.

But most of my friends are actually Devout Christian and despite their strict devotion to certain rules lay down by God and the bible, they are still good people.

The difference between Christianity and Scientology (as an example) is Christians wouldnt deny a person a medical treatment because the entire founding principle is to help each other anyway you can.

Its the crazier aspects of religions like Scientology, that make people fear and resent ALL other religions.

Which is a shame, because despite my dislike for the organised side of christianity, it still have a good message to learn and send.

We shouldnt live in a world WITHOUT faith, but we should also be intelligent and mature enough to recognised a religion that is just harming people.

And scientology seems to be hurting people.

  • Bullhuckle

All religion is dangerous. Hubbard invented Scientology to control the masses....Have you ever noticed that religious people seemed a bit under the control of their chosen faith. You live-you die. Love the world you're in, 'cause if there's no afterlife, you will have wasted your time here on pleasing a god that doesn't exist

If its true they denied their son treatment (which could have saved or prolonged his life or made him more comfortable), due to religion restrictions then that is a a VERY dangerious religion.

If this comes out as being true, it isnt going to help the, already, negative stigma surrounding Scientology.

I was one of those people willing to let these Scientologists believe what they want, because it didnt seem that bad and im open minded.

But if they honestly practice a believe of "degraded beings" and not giving people medical treatment due to that, then we need intervention.

Surely that goes against some long standing human rights law?

You can't die from autism. Correct. You can treat autism though. Behavioral treatment has been around for twenty years. Forty percent of chidren with autism, who are diagnosed early, have a full "recovery" from autism and are able to go a regular(read: not special ed) classes and engage in activities with "normal" kids. Of the remaining 60%, the vast majority see improvements in their communication and behavior.

Sad for the Travolta family. But are their beliefs any more crazy than thinking some dude came back to life after being dead three days and the floated up to heaven? Yeah...they are.

  • elise

No you cannot "die from autism' but you most certainly can treat it. Maybe you meant to say cure rather than treat??

I am guessing this will shake their belief system to the core . RIP honey...

"The circumstances of his death aren't currently known but it's been reported for some time that Jett had autism but the Travolta family refused to acknowledge or treat it."

You can't die of autism, and you can't treat it.

    What did I do?

  • Bullhuckie

A lot of good all that scientology crap is doing now. Shame. Because of his beliefs, he will be unable to have anti-depressants to aid him in recovering from this major blow. In fact, he can't even have a valium! Maybe Tom Cruise can help talk him through the depression of losing a child. Sorry John. Terrible loss but get it together...maybe this woill be a wakeup call that you wasted time and energy on a useless belief system

I guess he's not "Staying Alive".

dat is really sad information ... ;(( :((

  • aimee lynne

its sad, they never took this kid out in public...like they were ashamed of him. in fact,i forgot they even had him!esp the number of times you have seen their 'cute, normal'daughter photographed.saaaaaaad.hope xenu transports this kids soul to better standards

  • Steve

Off to that big DC-9 in the sky.

Mr. V, get off your self righteous trip. Its sad the kid died, but this is a gossip site, not CNN.

An autopsy will be done due to the circumstance of death and more than likely somebody will blab the details, once that happens then you can condem anyone or anything you want if someone was wrong.

Until then, open season on Scientologists.

  • Just Saying

    Well said, Steve!

  • Mr V.

What is worse, the person who believes in something or the guy who bashes the person who believes in something.

Because you are quick to pass judgement you fail to report the news correctly, which in turn causes the rest of the sheep to spread your inaccurate reporting.

Jett Travolta, 16, suffered a seizure at his family's vacation home. Jett, had a history of seizures.

  • pak

in this case i think the person who believes in something. Those people are crazy a space ship? really? sounds crazy to me, but lets not forget a 16 year old died and this is very sad news.

  • Timmay

Aren't you late for your audit?

  • Greg

Seizures? Sounds like autism to me...

  • Mr. Ed

It's unfortunate that their son passed. At least he's out of the cult.
