When I was younger I thought that politics was for mature intellectuals. Now that I am actually paying attention, I find out how childish and petty it really is. Most people don't even pay attention to the issues, just things like is a fist bump a form of greeting for terrorists? Or he's not wearing a flag pin, now he is wearing one.

I really think that a big draw for the Republican party is that people don't like the government or paying taxes, so they vote for the guy that promises to keep their taxes low and have a smaller government. Even though our government has grown 80% in the past 8 years, and the national debt has grown 4 trillion in that same time period. Also, under the last democratic president we had budget surpluses, instead of increasing debt.

I object to the Republican tactic of fear-mongering, and how they played off of our post 9-11 fears to divert attention away from Osama, onto Sadam and the war over oil. I also do not like how most people believe that God is on somehow on the side of the GOP just because of the one issue of abortion. What about peace and taking care of those less fortunate? Doesn't God believe in those?

I realize that no one will probably be able to change politics, but I have to give kudos to Obama for neither taking any campaign money from lobbyists nor having them as paid campaign staff. I would rather have the guy that promises hope and not more gloom and doom.

The truth is that campaign commercials are a completely trivial matter. Why even try to extrapolate any value out of something so blatantly bias and stacked.

Get informed. Know where we are as a nation. In a war where with who. Know Iran and how the Islamic republic operates on a non-bias level. Do not only get your information from one or two domestic sources, get it from international sources. Know how we are viewed around the world because its not all bad. We should not be ashamed to be american as it has become popular to do. Our culture, yes we have culture, is globally duplicated in societies that view ours as advanced. For example, There are young adults in Iran that love our culture and hate being stereotyped as flag-burning protesters, but thats all we see on our news outlets. We are globally connected in trade, business, culture, family, etc. Know the world news, the big picture. Global economics is the study of what will happen and predictable motivations on a the most macro-economical scale and is more of a factor of my presidential candidate than anything. When most countries have their reserve in american dollars we are the only country capable of bringing their inflation and reserve worth under control.

Ok i see that Democrats overestimate the powers of the President. You see the president has very little to do with the economy. It takes years to implement plans and say we're in a recession even if things are trying to be fixed it would take years before those actions are implemented which we'd most likely be out of the recession by then. Congress is the power. Oh you want the war to end but the President doesn't want to get out. Go to Congress they can call back the troops, a majority of Congress is democrat, they still haven't done anything. Why?
What about Barack? oh he'll fix it. I don't think he will. When he is elected, "for fear" of another Bush, he will owe so much to the party he will be an ineffective President though his ambitions are great. Ok McCain arguments. McCain is too liberal for conservatives. He's not Barack liberal but he's more than republicans like. jknee, they are exactly the same when it comes to following the Constitution. It is just a matter of the manner in which they ignore it. None of today's politicans have the slightest idea why things were set-up the way they were, and thus they go about undermining the entire system with things that sound good at the time- income taxes, direct election of senators, talk of eliminating the electoral college. Nobody bothers to understand the interconnectibility of all of the items the Founding Fathers created.

It's pathetic to see McCain stoop to this kind of level, but it is no different than when the Republican party smeared John Kerry. The only thing I do not understand is why underprivileged poor white voters in Southern States vote republican. Republicans represent those who make two hundred thousand or more. I don't understand why anyone would think they would have the best interest of the country.
