Two reconstructive surgeries within 6 months, both followed by limited if no physical activities, heavy doses of pain killers and antibiotics. I'd like to see any normal human being not put on a few pounds after that. This coming from someone with an M.D. degree. It's not ignorance on his part, it's just no choice and if you think he's not aware of it you're wrong.

Sorry to spoil your story on this one, but maybe before declaring him fat (wow, keen observation there) you might have done some actual journalism and see if it's something worth dishing or just making fun of a good man's heavily intrusive surgical rehab. That's a bit distasteful, don't you think?

He's a better man than most, with kindness and patience unlike you've ever seen. I took the time to say hi and shake his hand when I ran into him not pull my camera out. I might not have had any financial gain from it, unlike you, but you don't meet a lot of people with such a gentle heart that will spare a stranger a smile, a kind word, a hand shake, the interest to see what they have to say. Maybe next time you might remember that and try to see what it's like. Your own personal lesson into rare good human nature. I gurantee you, you won't meet anyone else like him.

Exactly, Tel is correct. No human to have that much surgery with seriously heavy medication, could stop putting on some pounds. It is painful for him to even be on his feet, let alone be able to move faster than a walk, he is in recovery. He is hardly 'Fat' I most certainly do not see that... only a very handsome, smart, sexy (I could go on)looking guy. Anyway who are you to snap a few shots at someone and judge them, what gives you that right?

The man has been active all of his life and he loves being that way, it is very sad/pathetic for you to discredit him when all he is suffering from prolonged injuries. I know the downside to an injury and the effects it has on your mental state when you cannot do things you want to be able to. He has been the most positive person through this ordeal and with grace, humor and class, never shown any negative outlook on his medical situation.

I have the highest respect for him and all I see is a fantastic invididual who has earnt more than the right to take it easy for a change.

Maybe "the interview" as you called it, would not have sucked balls if your so called reporter would have done some research before following RDA and asking a bunch of random outdated questions. Yet RDA was still kind enough to stop and try to answer the moron.

Richard Dean Anderson is an amazing man who has never hurt anyone in his life, has only respect and admiration for his fans and is a devoted Dad to his daughter. Thankfully you are not God, so you don't get to judge people!!! God is smiling on Rick because He knows what's in his heart! Weight is not and has never been a criterion for getting into heaven. If it was, most people would be rejected. Now I wonder when you look in the mirror, if you applied the same criticism to yourself as you do to celebrities, would YOU pass? I bet not! Registro ainda toda minha admiração pelo ator e pelo homem Richard Dean Anderson.

After years of working with injuries he suffered playing sports, RDA finally had enough of wearing sandals because his feet hurt. So last fall, he decided to have corrective surgeries. As other posters have said, he has been in physical rehab since. For someone who has been a lifelong athlete, the limits of recovery have gretly curtailed his activities. I'm sure he will take the weight off once he recovers fully.

In the meantime, Richard Dean Anderson is a guy fans respect for his charitable efforts, his loyalty to his friends, his devotion to his daughter and the quality of his work. I know several people who have met him, and they all found him to be friendly, talkative and down-to-earth. I get to meet him at an event in August...and I'm already looking forward to it.

Cut the guy some slack! Even with the extra weight, he still looks better than most men his age. And when he gets well, he'll be svelte again.

You really don't know fat when you see it. He's just RDA, sexy and gorgeous as ever. It's a real shame that one thinks everyone can always look 18 or 25 or 30 or even 40. Beauty is skin deep? I sure would hate to be in your shoes in a few years.

Personally, I hate the plastic look of people who aren't happy with themselves and go in for tons of plastic work to TRY and stay young. They still don't look like they are young, only worked over!

Along with a bunch of other things, like "is this a case of the pot calling the kettle black". "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Etc. Are you so perfect that you can afford to go around insulting people who have a far better life than you and who have worked extremely hard to have what they have? What? Are you jealous that he's better, has more, has done more, can still do more than you? How much more interesting if the "reporter" who ambushed him had asked something of interest. How amazing that RDA stayed polite thru an ambush and the stupidity of the "reporter". And I am going from what other fans have told me as I have not and will not watch such idiocy myself.

I think he looks great. And I hope he feels great. He's gorgeous no matter what. He does so many things for others and he's so devoted to his friends and family. He's been through some surgery and he's worked hard for everything he has so I challenge anybody who dares to label him as "fat".

Well.. for me he's still The MAN! He still looks gorgeous, handsome, and H-O-T! I've been a fan of RDA and his character MacGyver since it came out on the tube about 23 yrs. ago...so 23 years is quite long...what would we expect with our bods? I was thin then..I've also put on weight now...so i think it's reasonable for RDA to look like he is now...to add up his surgery! I definitely still love this man! Hope i'd meet him in person, slim or not!
