Best Buy cashing in on Ledger’s death

Sale! Sale! Sale!

A Best Buy in San Diego is using Heath Ledger's death as an opportunity to push DVDs. See this is why I'm a huge fan of Communism. There's no profit motive so you don't see stores and individuals (see eBay) cashing in on tragedy to make a quick buck. You would never see this callous display in a worker's paradise. Because they don't have DVD players. Or electricity. Go Cuba!

Being a Best Buy employee myself, I think this is shameful. Just a heads up, that's not a corporate thing, that was that store doing that by themselves.

That write up is hysterical. Loved the angle.

Nick, you're a wonderful man. Does it have to be a secret between us? Best Buy sucks ass for this stunt, I'm just saying...

Just can't police "class". Can't they at least wait until after his funeral?

Tacky! I bought Knight's Tale yesterday because that's when I fell in love with Heath Ledger. I'm gonna get some more on Friday, but NOT from Best Buy.

ahhh..american consumerism at its best. good thing they didn't waste any time waiting for his body to get cold.

This is just horrible...they're not even TRYING to promote the upcoming Batman movie.

- Heath plays the Joker.

i used to work at best buy and got anal warts so stay away

Classless but still much better than communism!

This lesson in callous displays from a person who was running the body bag photos....

poor anon did the body bag scare you? you act like celebslam is the only place that had the photos. GET OVER YOURSELF!!

Thank-you, Bee. I was going to put it much more "callously".

Oh Best Buy. You continue your ability to be absolutely repulsive while making it look like you're not even trying.

Don't worry, folks. You can buy your Heath Ledger DVDs from underpaid employees. Males, though. Women can't sell. Best Buy's said so.

No, body bags don't scare me in the least. I just find it funny when a pot calls a kettle black... what's for me to get over, exactly?

Maybe it was just so they wouldn't be directing people to the Heath Ledger DVD's all day? Their choice of words was bad, but i did something similar at the DVD rental shop i work in purely because i knew otherwise my whole day would be spent directing people to them.

@Chugga:

The choice of words is terrible. But I think it has more to do with it being Best Buy, who have proved themselves to be, for lack of a better word, sucky when it comes to human relations.

I was shocked when I heard this had happened! What gets me is that a customer took a picture with a camera phone on private property without asking if they could do so and then sent it out for the world to see! I see all the Major Entertainment shows running stories about the life and death of Heath so they are doing the same thing trying to get rattings (money) its the same thing and no one talks about that, what a sad world we live in.
