Eva Mendes nude
PETA announced today that Eva Mendes is the face of their winter anti-fur campaign. I for one thinks it's admirable that such a big Hollywood star is taking a stand against the fur industry . . .
Except in movies:
Leaving hotels:
At movie premieres:
At benefit galas:
And at parties:
So besides in movies; leaving hotels; at movie premieres, benefit galas, and parties; Eva Mendes would rather go naked than wear fur.

Pot meet kettle.
Yeah, those are some unfortunate pictures. Read the article on People's website though -- she addresses this saying that a stylist gave her these fur wraps and she "ignorantly wore them." After PETA sent her an informative letter about what kind of industry she promotes when she shows up to movie premieres dressed this way, she immediately regretted having done so and went anti-fur. So she's not a complete hypocrite -- she was just ignorant for a lil while. Glad to see her backing this campaign!
Let me preface this with the fact that I am vegan. PETA annoys me to no end. I don't understand the whole anti-fur thing. I mean, yeah, I don't believe in any exploitation of animals of any sort, yet alone killing them for fur... but I don't see it as any worse than any other form of slaughtering animals for our pleasure (i.e. leather, food, etc...) The same people (not all of them) that are against slaughtering animals for their fur, turn around and eat there flesh, or wear their skin. Why is this any better or any more ethical?
I never really understand how people are so perturbed by PETA. I think the founder is an extremely sound human being, and I wish the rest of the world could be as enlightened. This article might change your mind -- finally, someone afforded Ingrid Newkirk the chance to speak without trying to be a devil's advocate: http://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Ingrid_Newkirk,_co-founder_of_PETA,_on_animal_rights_and_the_film_about_her_life.
In response to your comment though, I'm a vegetarian (definitely admire that you're a vegan...I'm sure I'll end up that way eventually), and I can definitely understand the cynicism towards anyone who says "no" to fur but then supports the equally if not more cruel meat industry. Still, you have to applaud any kind of baby steps these days since it's at least an action that supports an animal rights attitude, which is against fur, the meat industry, animal testing, etc. It's not just about fur. My point is, I think it's great that Eva recognized wearing fur was wrong. Maybe she'll move on to swearing off meat, then any animal products, etc. Plus, it's ads like these that promote the notion that you don't have to be a hippie nutjob to at least be a little "more" ethical in your consumer habits.
That makes me so happy that she won't be wearing fur anymore. A true class act! So rare in Hollywood these days.
Nick...too funny the way you presented this post!
Totally agree with you, Joe. PETA is ridiculous in how it tries to go about promoting "ethical treatment" of animals. Animals will always be killed and slaughtered for human consumption and usage. That being said, in a perfect world it would be nice if the animals were not abused before or during the slaughtering.
It will be interesting to see just how long Eva goes without wearing fur. Even if she does stop wearing fur, I'll bet she doesn't throw away her leather Gucci bags or stop buying leather Manolo Blanik shoes. If she knew PETA is against any kind of animal use in products, I'm guessing Eva would reconsider being the spokeswoman for them.
Dickhead
I love slaughtering animals. Every once in a while, I'll go out at night with my baseball bat and just crush any pet I can find. Once I hit a cat so hard that it's body stood still for a few seconds while it's head went sailing over a fence. Last summer I hit a pigeon with an arrow almost 150 away. It was wierd looking though. It has dark feathers all over it's body, but the feathers on it's head were all bleach white. True f'n story.
Hey Carlos, since you are such a bad ass why not tell us where you live? I know a few people who would love the kick the living shit out of a pussy like you who can't get laid and has to take it out on little animals. Then when they are finished wiping the floor with your ass I will call immigration on you. I will not only kick your dirty immigrant ass out of this country but all 19 of your relatives who are on welfare and breeding like dogs in heat.
Stephanie, stop flirting with me.
hahha Stephanie strikes again!!!! and the unfortunate part is i don't mean that in a good way..... steph, sweetie, i thought you had such a great life that you "didn't know what you were doing on a lame website like this". what happened hunny, did that great life (and your words) come back and bite you in the ass??
my christmas wish to you, is that you get a sense of humor and pick your battles wisely. obvy carlos is messin around. and even if he wasn't, how can you see him from WAY UP on that high horse of judgement that you seem to always ride around on??? why even bother to comment to him????
Carlos! I've noticed you around Nick's Hood for a while. You are always funny. Pay no attention to Stephanie. (S)he needs way too much attention and will set the proverbial HAIR ON FIRE to get it. Don't give it eye contact, you will only encourage it.
The Revolution Will Not Be Televised!
Oh Margo, poor cheap little white trash Margo. Sticking up for a piece of shit like a dog killer, Carlos, makes you worth less than the five bucks you charge on the street. Oh and immigrants, this revolution you are talking about, the one where a million of you marched on the streets of LA saving your pathetic mexican flag saying this country couldn't function without you? Well as you saw this country kept right on going even though your illegal friends and all their welfare babies took to the streets. There is no revolution sorry. They all went home with their tails between their legs and pretty soon our borders will be shut off to keep this country from turning into a third world cesspool like the one you came from.
steph, i think you've been lying to us!! you drone on about how cute and smart and just all together better then everyone you are, but, i don't think it's true. if it were true, i don't think you'd be filled with such demonic hatred for others.
becareful sunshine or your head is going to start spinning in circles like that excorist child.......
Margo- such wise words!! if only some people could follow your example **cough**stephanie**cough**
You know, with all this fighting about poor lil' ol me, I'm getting some serious wood here. Keep it going, please.
Margo if you think that is your idea of a joke, someone saying they beat to death dogs and cats, then you are just as much as a loser as he is. Carlos, I wouldn't cross the street to spit on you. I guess this is the only way you can get attention. I pitty all of you.
OK, it's time to come clean because I see Stephanie is terribly upset and some of you wisenhiemers are picking on her. Steph, may I call you Steph? Steph, I don't hit any animals with baseball bats. As a matter of fact, I can't hit anything with a bat. I lost both arms in a horrible pie-eating contest so that makes it vertually impossible for me to do anything except watch tv and play 20 questions. I'm actually typing this with my feet and my impressive penis. And for the record my real name isn't Carlos, it's Optimus Prime. I'm not Mexican, but I have been there. I saw a real live "donkey show" and out of sheer coincidence his name was Stephanie. Spooky? You bet.
I would NEVER beat an animal with a baseball bat because I prefer that they're still alive...when I EAT them! Viva Carlos!
I Would Rather Promote Ethical Consumer Choices Without Objectifying Women Than Use Nudity To Get My Point Across
i've been vegan for 3 years, vegetarian for 8, & i can't stand peta's ad campaigns
So its ok to beat up a person but not a dog or a cat?
Ok so I wuz jus checkin this out cuz I luv Eva Mendes n wanted 2 know wut they wuz talkin about but then I come across this discustin chat dat don't got shitt 2 do wit wut da hell people were supposed 2 b commentin about.. Wut dat dude Carlos iz sayin iz sick even if it iz a joke it's dimented n he needz help.. But mind u whether u blieve or not, if wut u r sayin iz in fact true. U'll c ur payback when u die, go 2 hell n satan handz u over 2 jeffrey dommer... Have a nice day!
wow, this discussion is so off topic (lame and immature) i can't believe i'm wasting my time commenting here.
Whatever. Back to what actually matters.
The fur/meat/leather vegan vego question is one i've struggled with my whole (relatively short) life so far. I been through vegetarianism, to veganism, then back again with a short stint of eating only meat i had killed myself (i did a lot of fishing during this period) and finally to my current state as a meat-eating, leather wearing heathen.
The way i see this complex topic is easiest to wrap up briefly in the following point form:
1)torture of any animal for human consumerist (or any other) purpose is wrong, cruel and unnecessary.
2)Realistically the world will never stop eating meat, therefore if the animals must die (slaughtered as humanly as possible) then the whole animal should be used. ie leather, fur, bones in place of other synthetic (and therefore often environmentally unfriendly) materials. But not bred purley for the fur/leather industry.
3)if you're vegetarian for animal cruelty reasons, you should probably invest yourself in it fully and be vegan. Don't compromise your morals.
4) i believe (from what i have read so far) that human bodies (teeth, digestion process etc) were made to eat meat. ie humans as an animal, if you will, are designed to be omnivores. I only eat meat about twice a week on average. People eat WAY too much meat for their real requirements which isn't good for your body, animals, or the environment.
5) the world would be a better place if people could learn to not consume to such excess in EVERYTHING. food, water, clothes, technology, transport, any material objects. The world is completely out of balance and we're all suffering the consequences, most importantly our natural environment which may i remind you is our life source.
6) people should invest in good quality products, manufactured ethically, made of natural materials where possible that will last a life time and not contribute to our disgusting, wasteful self-destruction.
7) I commend eva for trying to make things right if she means it. But fur is really such a small part of a large problem. Look at the big picture, then freak out.
Ok, so that's just my opinion.
You may find it hypocritcal in spots, i'm still trying to figure the world out myself.
P.S. I'm not a hippy. I work in the fashion industry.
Well said brown bunny!
