Lions for Lambs bombs
Tom Cruise's new film Lions for Lambs grossed a dismal $6.7 million over the weekend, enough for fourth place. The result is particularly disappointing for Cruise as the film marked the first release from his new company, the resurrected United Artists. A UA spinmeister said:
"We performed right at the pre-weekend predictions and are glad to have done that. Given the modest production and marketing budgets we do not need to be a blockbuster hit. Everyone at United Artists are very proud of the film and could not have had a more perfect filmmaker to have made our first film." (Source)
Two words why this movie failed this past weekend: Fred Claus. How can a film compete against a juggernaut like that instant classic. Rumor is Vince Vaughn's movie is actually going to replace A Christmas Story on TBS's Christmas Day marathon. Or maybe it's being used to replace waterboarding as the US Government's preferred method of torture. I don't know, definitely one of those two. In the end though, perhaps the movie didn't do so well because it's about the War in Iraq. If the public wanted to watch a couple of hours of old people whining about that they'd tune in to Countdown with Keith Olbermann.

Tom Cruise's new film? What about Robert Redford and Meryl Streep? Thos two are great actors!
Wow! Thank GOODNESS for Tom Cruise! I had no idea we were at war! This is the first time I've heard of that place called Iraq - glad to have someone like Mr. Cruise update me on what is going on in the world...and Afghanistan, geez Tom, thanks for the info. I REALLY need to get out of my cave more often..........what WOULD we do without Hollywood and all those super-duper intelligent actors?
Tommy Boy was all cute way back in the day in his tighty whities singin'along wif the air gitar. But sometins happened along the way and I think it's that knock-off religion Science sumpin. Anyhoo- good luck wif dat son...
