Sean Penn hates freedom

Bauer-Griffin

Actor Sean Penn had a face-to-face meeting with dictator Hugo Chavez last week. In a nationally televised speech the anti-American leader of Venezuela heaped praise on Penn for his vociferous protest against the Iraq war. Chavez said:

"What moves [Sean] is his conscience. He's one of the greatest opponents of the Iraq invasion ... He's well informed about what goes on in the United States despite being in Hollywood." Chavez, who's closing down newspapers and TV stations that criticize his policies, said he chatted with Penn by phone Wednesday and they agreed to meet in Caracas [on Thursday]. Chavez read part of Penn's open letter to the White House in which Penn described Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as "criminally obscene people." Penn wisely did not speak in public. (Source)

He's "moved by his conscience"...? Considering how full of shit Sean Penn is, the only "movement" he should be having is in his bowels. If he really wants to be a Communist, I'm sure Venezuela, North Korea, or somewhere more "Communisty" would love to have him. He just has to leave all of his worldly possessions behind--except the crabs and syphilis (Thanks a lot Madonna!).

Fucking good for him! Maybe he's an assfuck, but at least he's smart enough to be an anti-war one!

Yea, and at what point has Sean Penn ever advocated the abolition of private property and the turning over of all means of production to the state here in the US?
Do you have a quote, maybe?
And he's certainly right on about the administration hacks and fuck ups that he calls criminally obscene. Because that's exactly what they are.
The Bush administration has no use for quaint things like the Constitution, rule of law, Geneva Conventions, etc..
You know, silly things like that.
Oh, sorry, we're fighting the "war on terror".
Guess that means the Bill of Rights gets tossed out the window.
And 800 years of jurisprudence (Habeas Corpus, another silly thing).

BTW, Hugu Chavez is not a "dictator". He was actually elected president of their country.
Unlike the current cocksucker we have as "president" of the US now who was not elected president.
He was selected once (Gore won the popular vote, and that's a fact), and then put in office the second time through voter fraud.

Mike V.: Sean Penn is a commie

Yea, so I heard.

Venezuela is not a communist country. You need to get your facts straight.

Chavez was about as democratically elected as Castro was. He's a thug. Anyone who defends him should get the fuck out of this country -- strong-arming counts as democracy? You Chavez supporters obviously like socialism and dictators, all the while sipping your Starbucks and listening to your iPod. And Sean Penn should go fuck himself, while we're on the topic. He's so arrogant and ridiculous it's almost amusing. He's just a laughable piece of uneducated shit. What a waste of life. I'm embarrassed our soldiers even fight for the freedom of jagoffs like him.

US armed forces are certainly fighting for a "free Iraq"... yeah, free oil, free resources and free of iraqis... I don't know if you have relatives in the front lines. Hope not, because it would be horrible for them to die fighting for false goals, getting nothing but a bullet in the head for their troubles...

Bully, crappy actor, high school drop-out = Foreign policy expert.

jenna and the superficial guy- you are both idiots.chavez was ELECTED in a LANDSLIDE. you know when that U.S. backed coup failed a couple years back? it was because venezualans came out en masse to overthrow our attempted overthrow. the U.S. and rich whiney venezuelans hate chavez because he has nationalized industries like oil and radio. meaning the $$$$$ goes to venezuela instead of into US pockets, and we never like that. you obviously get all your info from mainstream american sources- not the best place, especially since Bush and co have been waging a war of misinformation against this guy for years. do some freakin research instead of just regurgitating the first fox news editorial you hear.

oh nick-
a little crass for someone who reports on every "nipple slip" in hollywood to attempt serious political commentary on the very same website. i come to this site for some celebrity dirt and eyecandy- not your attempts to be political. cut the soapboxing- or just start another website as a platform for your social ignorance. leave this one for the T&A.

Eden,

I'm not sure using the terms "Communisty, Crabs and Syphallis" constitutes as "serious political commentary". I suggest that if you are easily offended by anything on this site, you take my dick out of your mouth.

im going to have to agree with 8 inches. Eden no one wants to hear your crybaby shit

iraq war aside
whether or not Chavez was elected is irrelevant
the same people who bring that up as some defense of his ridiculous actions
are the same people that blast bush, also an elected official.
being elected is no excuse for curbing freedom
and in that department Chavez is 100 times worse than Bush
you didn't see Bush shutting down comedy central after Steven Colbert lambasted him at that press dinner last year

Chavez is neither a communist nor a socialist- he is a populist. I agree with John in that it really doesn't matter whether or not Chavez was fairly elected, he should not have the kind of omnipotent veto power that he has in Venezuela. As per the person who described American freedom as listening to your i-pod and going to Starbucks- forgot that the government now watches what songs you download and which Starbucks you go to, not to mention the anti-gov posts you submit to a website. The US gov now enjoys the absolute power to black list you and detain you without trial in that oh so criminal, freedom hating Cuba. Anyone who questions why trillions and trillions of American dollars have been wasted on an absolutely pointless and false war is on our side- just as Venezuelans should question the actions of Chavez. Democracy means they work for us.

"BTW, Hugu Chavez is not a “dictator”. He was actually elected president of their country.

FRAUD, FRAUD??... obviously you know shit about situation here in Venezuela. Hugo Chavez it's the BIGGEST AND SMELLY fraud in the history of our country. Last December he committed THE BIGGEST fraud in the venezuelan political history. He wasn't legally elected as our president, he just has it's puppets in all public entities in the country. He has money, A LOT of money, and sure, he's a commie, but venezuelan's isn't. Sorry for my lack of english, i don't practice it every day.

Oh, BTW the only thing that keeps Chavez as a president it's the oil prices... but that's about to change because recently corruption charges in PDV S.A (biggest venezuelan oil worldwide provider, including the US).

Sean Penn is just another "oil bitch" seeking $$$ for his pictures. Just like Danny Glover.

I love the guy who claims Chavez won by fraud.
Dude, he won how many elections, referendums, recalls and other such votes in the past decade?
5, 6?
You can claim maybe one lost election on fraud but when he whips your ass non-stop, I think the term 'sore loser' fits.
Look, its not hard to understand why he won... he got the poor, the blacks and indians to vote. People the system had always overlooked (the class distinctions among races and open racism is something else in Venezuela).
Had he not given them colored people the idea that they can change the system by voting, this wouldnt have happened.
Allow the black monkeys to vote and this is what you get.
(dont get offended at the comparison between blacks and monkeys, its done often on the opposition stations when they talk about Chavez. It happened once right when Colin Powell showed up for a visit and his people werent amused).
I understand the hatred the minority lighter skinned folks have of those filthy indians and lazy blakcs; it was easier before when they didnt vote because the parties didnt cater to them. Now this bastard is actually doing something for these people which means they will keep voting for him. Genius!!

As for the not renewing the license of the station, it depends if you followed the whole story or the CNN version.
They did it the same week Canada took away a license from a radio station that talked about some news sluts boobs and it didnt cause a ripple.
I guarantee you that in any country where a TV station openly supports a coup, that station would have been shut down asap. I was amazed that they didnt close the station then but waited years for the license to expire.
Stations dont get renewed all the time because its public airwaves but if just like in the US, the rules dont apply if they moved the station to cable.

Venezuela also had telecommunications laws that were written about 6o years ago and a good 4-5 years before the first tv arrived in the country.

PS: only a world class fudge packer talks about his dick on forums. Maybe your daddy help you too close when he used to spoon you but you got some lingering homoerotic feelings you might have to work out.
Find yourself a Mark Walhberg poster and see if it arouses you.
