Robert De Niro almost beat up a group of "young punks" outside his LA restaurant Ago when he saw them tormenting a wounded coyote. After hearing what he thought were the wounded cries of a hurt dog, De Niro ran out of his restaurant where he saw two of the kids poking the animal with their hockey sticks. According to Mike Walker of the National Enquirer, De Niro yelled:
"What the hell you think you're doin'? How 'bout I take those hockey sticks and beat the hell out of you? Get outta here before I call the cops!" As the punks beat it, De Niro whipped out his cell phone, contacted the LA Wildlife WayStation and while he waited for them to rescue the coyote, he ordered a busboy from his eatery to bring a pan of water and food for the injured animal. This story has to be fake. I mean, (1) who has the LA Wildlife Station on speed-dial on their cellphone? (2) What kids play hockey in L.A? And (3) what busboy understands English!? Nah, this story is all wrong I tell you. De Niro's obviously positioning himself to win PETA's "Man of the Year" award. Free tofu for a year!

I'm not buying it. But as a consolation prize I will tell you that while I was deer hunting last fall I saw 5 (that's right, five) coyotes trotting towards me shoulder-to-shoulder on a road and - had they simultaneously turned broadside - I would have put a 185 grain 30.06 bullet through all of them and made myself a coyote coat. How 'bout THEM apples ??? I love animals. They are delicious.
