Britney Spears posted a message today on her official website addressing her recent tendency to not wear underwear. She writes:

It's been so long since I've been out on the town with friends. It's also been 2 years since I've even celebrated my birthday. Every move that I make at this point has been magnified more than I expected, and I probably did take my new found freedom a little too far. Anyway, thank god for Victoria's Secrets' new underwear line! I look forward to a new year and a new me.I'm just getting started…Happy holidays everyone!

Britney's going about this the wrong way. If she really wants to generate some positive press for herself, she needs to do something heroic--and no, wearing underwear does not count as a heroic act, even for Britney. Maybe she could rescue a senior citizen out of a burning building or something. Knowing Britney, she'd probably manage to even turn that into a slutty act...like she'd emerge from the burning building with an old man and they'd both be wearing no clothes and smoking a cigarette talking about how "they took each other places they didn't even know existed."
