Yesterday I wrote about Rachel Weisz's controversial comments about pregnant woman and alcohol (Weisz claimed it was fine if pregnant women drink wine occasionally since women in Europe do it all the time). Well today Rachel's rep came up with some weird explanation for the comments that makes her sound even worse:
"She was speaking only about herself and what her doctor said was okay for her," says the rep. "She wasn't speaking as an expert. She believes everyone should consult their own physician to see what is right for them."
Who the hell is this doctor? He sounds like he got his medical license after sending in four Snickers' proofs of purchase and $4.95 for shipping and handling. That's the only explanation for him saying it was alright for Rachel to throw back a few. Why not just tell a man with no arms and legs that swimming is "OK in moderation." Jesus Christ.
Something tells me that Rachel never even saw a real doctor. Her prenatal care probably consisted of venturing into alleys and having conversations with drunken vagrants. When she asked them about alcohol, they just grunted a few times.

I still don't understand what's wrong with having one glass of wine. If she's going all out like Mariah Carey meets Lindsay Lohan in a bender, then yeah, you're endangering a fetus, but man. One glass of wine? I mean, the Irish used to give their pregnant women things like Guinness so they'd have enough carbs to keep the woman healthy. And they turned out ok... Well, ok, maybe they didn't. But my first point still stands.
There is nothing wrong with an occasional glass of red wine after the first trimester of pregnancy.
Ah Americans & their paranoia! No wonder we're known as the people who blow small fortunes on therapy. If you've ever had a baby, and it sounds lke you haven't, you'll be unhappy to know that about 99% of doctors suggest it's ok to have an occasional glass of wine after the 1st trimester.
Rachel is not advocate drinking while being pregnant but only said that a glass of wine is OK after the first trimester. maybe the person who wrote this article should brush up on his or her reading comprehension skills before they make a stupid and unfounded comments.
Rachel said nothing wrong. My sister was told to take a little wine when she was with child because of her nerves and the fact that she was still working at her job ( She's an nurse). In fact, they give women alcohol to stop premature contractions.
The whole thing is being blown way out of proportion.
Nice to see you can't even write an original sentence for a different blog, Tom. Remember me? Troll.
I know a lot of women who has taken a glass of wine while they were pregnant and all of their children turn out fine. Wine calms the nerves a bit and it does not have that much alcohol in it.
Rachel did not say anything wrong at all.
What she's saying is based on Britain's statement concerning that. I know that blogs have the need to make clever sarcastic comments about even the smallest things, but really - aren't you scraping bottom here? Do your research.
Rachel Weisz only talked about a glass of wine, not a bottle of beer. Only the so called moral right bloggers are trying to make something out of this, the real press does not really care and rightfully so.
The whole discussion is idiotic. Rachel Weisz is only giving her opinion on what her doctor advise her to do and a lot of doctors share that same view with their pregnant patients.
The only people trying to look down on her are those who are too stupid to read a book or think for themselves.
Guys, before making a decision on alcohol in pregnancy, seriously, talk to your doctor and ask about and research Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
