In the December issue of Playboy magazine, Natalie Maines--the Dixie Chick who made controversial comments about George W. Bush a few years ago--has kind words for another Bush basher:
"Some people call me brave, but I don't think what I did was brave at all. Brave is Kanye West, after Hurricane Katrina, saying George Bush doesn't care about black people. That was one of the greatest television moments of all time. I would never have said that. I'm a coward compared with him. It was so honest and sincere, and he knew what he was going to say. I would have chickened out. That was just so brave. And true."
That quote wasn't "brave" by Kanye West. It was ignorant and grossly misinformed. I don't really want to get political on this site, but Kanye doesn't have a clue about the President. I mean, he didn't even address Bush's hatred of Mexicans, Asians, women, kittens, apple-pie, sunsets, etc. It's like he dipped his toe into the pool but didn't jump in.
Yeah Bush is just such a great guy...... whatever. If that was a bunch of white middle class people stuck in a city after a hurricane he would've had the military out there the same day rescuing people. And Second of all he started a horrible war where your troops are dying everyday. And for what? To finish what his daddy started? Whatever I respect the dixie chicks and Kanye for saying how they feel about a horrible man. I know that I'll probably get a lot of bad replies but really I don't give a s*** because I have a right to my opinion.

You know, I'm so sick of this argument about Bush's response to Katrina. Did you know that more white people then black people died in NO? Does that mean Bush hates white people too? How about all the people who died in Chicago during the 1995 heatwave? If I remember correctly, I believe Clinton was our president at the time. Did he personally allow all those people die as well?
you know, i totally agree w/u jordaninski. people conveniently forget about all the crap clinton did and let go of while he was president and recall what a "great" president he was. people like to hop on the bandwagon of lets hate bush, i guess they need to feel like a part of something and be a part of the group instead of thinking for themselves. i dont like bush, but kerry was much more of an asshole than bush was. especially seeing what he said about the troops recently. and i dont agree w/the stuff (ie death threats) to the dixie chicks, but i'm glad they heard shit for what they said, if ur gonna dish it out be able to take it back
Did I mention Clinton. I really don't care for any politician. Because they all turn out to be liars and cheats. I understand Clinton was no better than Bush, but seriously Bush is no better than any other presidents either. I'm not "jumping on a bandwagon", I have never liked Bush and never will. Just as I will never like any other politician in this world. But just to let you know there was an article in the National Geographic about 2 months before hurricane Katrina that predicted the levees collapsing. And that this had been brought up to the government, and they didn't put up the funds to fix the impending demise of all those people white or black. So really I think that Bush sucks just as much as any other pres. Thanks.
Oh please, Lee. In your first post you called Bush a "horrible man" who would have saved middle class white people over black people (ie: racists). Then when I give you an example of another president who didn't personally save people in another disaster, you now claim that all politicians are liars and cheats. And as far as fixing the levees before the hurricane, I can find just as many articles showing money that was to be used for the levee upgrades, was spent by the democratic leaders in NO and LA on other, non-essential projects. So how is that Bush's fault?

I really could care less about your politics because they are just as corrupt as ours. See I'm Canadian. So really I don't care who your president is because it doesn't involve me. I dont give a fuck about any of them. Kanye shouldnt have been saying that stuff while he was trying to raise money for victims. It was not a political forum it was a fund raiser for people affected by katrina. He grossly missed the point because hes an arrogant asshole. Point in case his little tirade about not winning the music video of the year in europe even though he spent so much money on it. He missed the point! Just like the dixie chicks missed the point because they were talking shit over seas. Its not brave to stop raising money for people who have lost their homes so you can state your mind.
With the hostile environment that the US is dealing with - Katrina, 911, Iraq, North Korea, etc., - the Dixie Chicks should not have been slamming their own President overseas. Yes, okay to slam in the US but not overseas. They should consider the fact that only in America can you slam your President and not go to jail or be executed.

Does anyone even care about the Dixie chickens anymore? Why are they still talking about what she said like ten years ago? It sounds to me like they are trying to build some sort of fanbase that a) likes their music and b) pays high profile musicians to speak their mind on political subjects. It is unfortunate that she agrees with Kanye West and sounds as though she is trying to get more african americans to agree with her and/or buy their album that has tanked after being at the top of the charts for like... two minutes. I ask again for sake of all that is good! Who gives a $hit about the Dixie $hits?!!

this is soo wack.. everyone has their own opinions and they could express it however they want to. i DO think that Bush has done shit for this country, but then again i dont know the things that he DOES try to help with. I just really want a president you actually has positive goals, & presidents who become presidents not cuz they have dough. maybe a woman, or, someone with mixed races. that'd be a changeee i'd wanna see.
