Jessica Alba Sunday church

Jessica Alba used to be a born-again Christian; however, she left her church after religious leaders accused her of being too promiscuous:

After four years as a born-again Christian, Alba backed away from religion because "older men would hit on me and my youth pastor said it was because I was wearing provocative clothing, when I wasn't. It just made me feel like if I was in any way desirable to the opposite sex, that it was my fault, and it made me ashamed of my body and of being a woman." Alba also vehemently disagreed with the church's condemnation of premarital sex and homosexuality and was bothered by the lack of strong female role models in the Bible.

Imagine having Jessica Alba in your church congregation. With all the impure thoughts racing through my head, I would literally wear out a path to the confessional booth. I mean I'm getting provocative thoughts just looking at this stick-figure I drew of her that's taped to the ceiling above my bed. To be honest, I think it's the stick-boobs that are doing it for me. I traced around a bottle-cap to make them extra perfect.

why join in the first place? i don't get it. like, what do you expect?

i'd like to organise in her religion. and by religion i mean her pants!

I think that she wasn't going to a very great church, cuz I go to an awsome, rockin' church in Williams Lake. I mean we listen to christian punk and it is so awsome. But the great thing is that we have an on fire passion for christ!!!

i mean, gurl...christianity isn't a religion....it's literally a thing to shout about! At my church someone could just stand up in the middle of the service or praise and worship and start screaming, rolling on the ground, or just jumping up and down! It has never passed my mind as something to be shy about!

"After four years as a born-again Christian, Alba backed away from religion because “older men would hit on me and my youth pastor said it was because I was wearing provocative clothing, when I wasn’t."

That's a good reason to leave a church, it is not a good reason to leave Christianity. Nobody should come to Christ because of the church. They should come to Christ because they realize that they have broken God's moral law the 10 Commandments and are in need of a savior. That's the reason.

"It just made me feel like if I was in any way desirable to the opposite sex, that it was my fault, and it made me ashamed of my body and of being a woman.”"

This is a normal reaction to have. It sounds like this church took the rule about not being a temptation to those around you too far. The men must guard their eyes against what they see and think as well. They are where the problem lies in this unfortunate scenario. They are also committing adultery by looking upon Jessica with lust in their hearts, but I can guarantee that was never brought up as an issue in this church.

"Alba also vehemently disagreed with the church’s condemnation of premarital sex"

Jesus Himself condemns this act in Matthew 5:27-28. He says that any man that looks upon a woman to lust after her, has already committed adultery with her in his heart. This is the sin that was being committed by the men in Jessica's church. So if just thinking about sex is bad, doing it is definitely bad.

"and homosexuality"

Numerous places in the Bible that God has declared this to be an abomination.

"and was bothered by the lack of strong female role models in the Bible."

Hmm, Ruth and Esther leap to mind. There are others. Here is a web page that talks about the women of the Bible.

bubbles, why do you go to church? to have fun singing songs that you enjoy singing? or to sing for God?

I agree with zecryphon.

I have two thigns to say...

1: Whoever wrote this article doens't really understand the illogic of the statement about the confessional boothe, but, if he had attended the same Churhc Alba had, there woudl be no confessional. SHe obviosuly attended a Protestant Churhc and from other soruces it was Evangelical.

Evangelcials don't have COnfessionals, nor do most other Protestants. In fact, only the Apostolic Churhces, or some Lutherans, do. CHurhces like Cahtolic, Orthodox, or Anglcian compose the Apostolic line, any that claim apostolic succession and continues the practices of the Ancient Church as undertsood via Cashtolic/Orthodox tradition.

That said, Jessica Alba herself made several dire mistakes in thinking.

The firts is covered alredy. Just ebecause a spacific Church treated her poorly doens't mean every Churhc would. Liekwise, if she did not wan tot attend that particular type of Churhc, she coudl have oped for another.

There is no reason to abandon Christianity base dupon this.

The next problem is the fact that she disagrees abotu Homosexuality and PRemarital sex. In addition to her ability to then joint eh Episcola CHurhc no queasitoens asked, or other Liberal Chruches ( Which she seems nto to consider), the fact rmains that merley disagreeign with those things doesn't mean much.

Rather or nto PRemarital sex or Homosexuality are wrong or right is not determiend based upon preference or desire, and from variosu interviews, Alba dosn't strike me as someone who out a lot of thoguth into htis and looked beyind herself to arive a thtis conclusion. Its base don modrn valeus shes adopted and how she persoanlly feels.

Thats harldy a good reason to leave any rleigion. EVen those which accept Homoseuality and premarial sex, like Humanism ( which now tries to pretend its not a religion) or Raelianism shoudln't be rejected base dupon merley personal disagreemnt, but on actual moral con viction about topics after actual thought.

Alas, as with most actors in Hollywood, Alba seems superficial and hsallow in her htinking.Just a high paid pretty face.

she can say whatever she wants about religion. look at that body...damn, that girl's got it going on...hmmm, hmmmm ;-)
